Our Team

Cheri Sugal created IGP and recruited the co-founding team. She brings almost 30 years in the conservation and carbon industry with on-the-ground experience in 65 countries. She has deep experience delivering projects in emerging markets, with governments, NGOs, communities, and the private sector and financial structuring to facilitate early private financing into emission reduction projects.

Cheri’s previous roles included:

• Head of Structured Carbon Finance at South Pole Carbon Asset Management 
• Founder of Cheri Sugal Consulting, 10 years developing advising on the design of jurisdictional and national emission reductions programs (Mexico, Cambodia, Guyana, Zambia). 
• Director for Africa & Latin America at Terra Global Capital; and 
• Founder & Senior Director of the $100M Global Conservation Fund at Conservation International 

As Chief Commercial Officer, Edit Kiss oversees our corporate strategy for financing projects. Edit brings 17+ years in the entire value chain of carbon markets – project development and finance, origination, investment deal structuring and execution, and sales and trading. She has experience working in financial institutions, carbon funds and renewable energy companies in London, Paris, Lugano, Rotterdam and Budapest.

Edit’s current roles include:

• Non-Executive Board Director of the UK’s first rewilding business, the Real Wild Estates
• Company Co-chair of IETA’s Natural Climate Solutions working group
• Steering Committee Member and co-chair of the Biodiversity Credits Working Group of the Coalition for Private Investment in Conservation (CPIC).

Edit’s previous roles included:

• Chief Investment Officer at Revalue Nature 
• Investment and Development Director at Mirova Natural Capital 
• Structured Origination Manager, REDD+ specialist at Eneco Energy Trade
• Carbon Originator at Constellation Energy 

As Chief Financial Officer, Karin Berardo is responsible for managing and executing the company’s financial strategy.  Karin brings 25+ years financing, developing and operating natural and built infrastructure solutions including ocean finance, renewable energy, affordable housing, water management and regenerative agriculture in 50+ countries.

Karin’s previous roles included:

• Founder, Abren Climate Impact Solutions, a women-led advisory practice delivering project development, capital raising and impact strategy solutions to climate entrepreneurs and investors worldwide.
• Chief Investment Officer, DC Green Bank
• Director, Sustainable Debt, NatureVest at The Nature Conservancy.
• Chief Executive Officer, Stumpf Energy
• Co-Founder, Chief Financial Officer, CleanPath Ventures.
• Principal, Municipal Mortgage & Equity.

As Head of Operations, Tauni Berger oversees IGP’s ongoing operations and procedures. Tauni brings 15+ years in sustainable business and carbon markets working with corporates, municipalities, and start- ups, having lived and worked in N. America, Europe, MENA and SE Asia. She has expertise in start-up corporate establishment, corporate strategy, strategic partnership development and implementation, and business development.

Tauni’s previous roles included:

• Independent Sustainability Consultant, strategic impact projects – Williams-Sonoma, Gap, EOS Climate

As Lead Technical Advisor- Carbon Removals, Naomi Swickard advises on our company’s removals assessments, and related strategic partnership work. Naomi brings 17+ years in the carbon and ecosystem services markets with experience across Latin America, Africa, Asia and Europe. She has deep experience in standards and methodologies development and oversight for all project types, with substantial expertise on all Nature-based Solutions- from REDD+ to all other agriculture, forestry and other land use activities, expertise in carbon market policy and governance, and the project development cycle.
